Behind The Art
The art shows are longer and more frequent. Everyone at the shop puts in extra hours. The phone rings incessantly. Time must be found to get presents for the children, the parents, a few friends. The neighbors are having a holiday party. Will I join them after work? It is Advent, but my mood often seems more harried than joyous. There really is no escape from most of this. The sense of peace I desire must be found in remembering that all this activity - the work that is required, the busy pleasure of generosity, the fellowship that is by turns both warm and hectic, and the beauty of the lights we put on trees and in windows - can be good, even sanctified, but only as it reflects the love and light of the Father of Lights.
The red letters in the tree spell Immanuel, “God with us.”
