We need people who mean something to us, people we can turn to so that being with them is like coming home.

Behind The Art
I was traveling to my friends’ home in Princeton, New Jersey, hoping to arrive in time for dinner. I was not sure of the way, so after a few false turns I was relieved and grateful when I saw the sign in my headlights, “Princeton. 15 miles.”
I sometimes think these pictures can be like that. Their chief purpose is extrinsic, a purpose that, like the road sign, lies in pointing - or suggesting - a direction, a goal. What is important, ultimately is not the sign - or the picture. What is important is being with my friends, breaking bread, finding my way along a dark road, getting home.
