Behind The Art
I wanted the letters to be closely coupled, to touch and intertwine. Also, the oval format seemed right for the conjugal theme. On another level, the blending of blue into green suggests a merging of heaven and earth.
I have heard it suggested that, through the bridegroom and the bride, Solomon is offering us a symbol of God and His relationship to His people. But, is there not another, more obvious and immediate significance to these words, one that refers to our own marriages? In Genesis, God said it was not good for Adam to be alone. God’s gift to me is my beloved. Holding and being held by my beloved is both gift and worship.
