A woman came to my booth at an Arts and Crafts show and bought this piece. “That’s my verse,” she declared. “Why is that?” I asked.

“When I was ten years old I had a very vivid dream. Our Lord was standing before me, looking right into my eyes. He held my gaze for some time. But at the point where I was sure He was going to tell me something, He just turned and walked away. When I awoke I remembered the dream – of course – and it depressed me deeply. In fact, for the next several years the memory of it – of Him turning His back on me – was always depressing. Years later, when I was a young woman, just starting college, the Lord again appeared to me in a dream, but this time He spoke, ‘When I turned away from you it was because I expected you to follow Me.’”
