Behind The Art
This is an adaptation of Galatians 5:22-23. The first phrase, the reference to the Spirit, is shown as the branch or vine. The fruit, or gifts – peace, love, joy, and the rest —- grow out of it.
The loose, flowing design of the letters suggests freedom, since that is the effect of the Spirit in our lives. Yet in the distribution of weight and color, and in the interconnections of the words, there is also discipline.
It is also the harmony between freedom and discipline that Paul is talking about earlier in Galatians when he says that we have been made free, not to do wrong, but to love and serve one another.
