Behind The Art

"Christ in you, the hope of glory”.

This is an imperfect parallel. Still, there are elements in it that seem useful.

There were about six specific guidelines given to me when I left the hospital after a recent surgery: rest, medication, diet, exercises – which to do, which to avoid, etc.

My wife and sons encourage me to follow this regimen. I plan to. My hopes for the restoration of health require it. Those hopes began – interestingly – not with the operation’s successful completion, but with my belief in the doctor’s friendly assurance at our first consultation: “I can help you”.

Now, there was another encounter – I don’t know that I would call it a consultation, though it too implied guidelines, guidelines to be found in scripture. It was Christ who was assuring me, “I have healed you. Though your soul was very sick, you will be well. I have saved you. In fact, I gave my life to save you”.

So, the question is: should it be any harder to believe my Savior than to believe my surgeon. Right now, that belief is for me “the hope of glory”.”
