Behind The Art - Whatsoever:
Paul sits in prison while he writes these words. (Indeed, the main body of the text is enclosed in a tight rectangle.) His mind and his spirit, however, are free. And through this cheerful letter to his friends in Philippi, he is communicating to me, across the years, that I, too, can live outside the confines and tribulations of any material situation. Paul tells me that feelings of freedom and joy are as direct a result of the thoughts I think as feelings of physical well-being are of the food I eat.
Paul promises that as our thoughts become focused on what is true, noble, and lovely, our lives will become a reflection of these qualities, and that in this way we will find peace.
